Annual Permits
The Southern Nevada Health District Aquatic Health Program (AHP) is responsible for the permitting and regulatory oversight of Aquatic Venues (swimming pools, spas, etc.). The program conducts both Operational and Plan Review activities.
The Southern Nevada Health District Environmental Health Division regulates, permits, and inspects all body art establishments. Body art is defined as tattoo, permanent makeup, and body piercing.
The child care program staff routinely inspects all licensed child care facilities in Clark County to assure compliance with elements of health, sanitation, and safety in the child care setting. Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 444.335 grants that the Health Authority shall have supervision over the sanitation, healthfulness, cleanliness and safety as it pertains to public and private schools and school gymnasiums.
A cottage food operation, as allowed by SB206, means a natural person who manufactures or prepares food items in a non-food establishment setting for sale directly to an end consumer. Gross sales from a cottage food operation may not exceed $35,000 annually.
FARMER’S MARKET means a place of business where the actual PRODUCER of FARM PRODUCTS or a representative designated by the PRODUCER and possessing the PRODUCER’s PRODUCE certificates of FARM PRODUCTS can bring their products for direct sale to CONSUMERs.
Once a health permit to operate a food establishment is approved through the Plan Review process, the permitted food establishment is inspected periodically by health district staff to assure ongoing compliance with pertinent sections of these regulations.
Hotels, motels, resorts, hostels, bed & breakfast facilities, transient rooming or lodging houses, and other buildings or structure kept as, used as, maintained as, or held out to the public to be, a place where sleeping or rooming accommodations are furnished to the transient public, require permitting and compliance with NRS 447 and the Regulations Governing the Health and Safety of Public Accommodation Facilities.
Mobile Unit means any properly enclosed vehicle in which food, beverages, frozen desserts or dairy products and mixes are prepared, processed or converted for human consumption, and which is used to sell and dispense food and beverages to customers. The term includes full service “hot” trucks and limited service “ice cream” trucks. The term does not include a pushcart or any portable unit for the service of food.
Requirements for the permitting of Mobile Home or RV Parks
A restricted waste is a solid waste with properties that make it dangerous or potentially harmful to human health and/or the environment and is prohibited from disposal in a solid waste landfill.
An ISDS is a single system for the treatment and disposal of domestic sewage by means of septic tank and soil absorption system.
Solid Waste Plan Review (SWPR) is the formal process to obtain approval to operate a facility for the management of solid waste in Clark County, Nevada.
The subdivision review process begins when tentative maps, final maps and improvement plans are submitted with plan review fees. Other documents may be required depending on the type and location of the subdivision.
Southern Nevada Health District has an interlocal contract with the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) to inspect and verify that all owners and operators of Underground Storage Tanks (UST) in Clark County, Nevada comply with State and Federal regulations.
The retail sale or wholesale of any used mattresses or bedding without first subjecting the used mattresses or bedding to an approved disinfection/sterilization process, and properly labeling them as used and sterilized, is a violation of both Southern Nevada Health District regulation and Nevada state law (NRS 444.010-444.040).
Temporary Permits
Temporary aquatic venues are utilized for short term, time limited, site specific events. Plan review for temporary venues is conducted in conjunction with special events.
An Event Coordinator (EC) is a designated person or the person assigned by the event sponsor who is responsible for the coordination of the food vendors and health related services at the Special Event.
A Food Vendor may obtain a Temporary Food Establishment (TFE) Permit for 1-14 consecutive days
