Public Accommodations Hotel/Motel, RV/MHP/SCRV

Hotel/Motel

Hotels, motels, resorts, hostels, bed & breakfast facilities, transient rooming or lodging houses, and other buildings or structure kept as, used as, maintained as, or held out to the public to be, a place where sleeping or rooming accommodations are furnished to the transient public, require permitting and compliance with NRS 447 and the Regulations Governing the Health and Safety of Public Accommodation Facilities.

New, Addition or Remodel:
As provided in Section 3.1, any person who begins the construction or extensive remodeling of a public accommodation facility that requires a building permit must submit the plans to the appropriate Health Authority for review and approval. At least 30 days prior to beginning construction or remodeling of a public accommodation facility, the responsible person must submit construction plans with all schedules; e.g., floor plans, elevations, electrical schematics, etc., to the Health Authority for review and approval. Self Contained Recreational Vechicle (SCRV):
Hotels and motels that allow guests to park Recreational Vehicles in their parking lot for the purposes of overnight accommodations are required to apply for and obtain a separate health permit for SCRV parking. Hotels and motels seeking to obtain such permits may submit an application for a SCRV permit and meet the requirements outlined in Regulations Governing the Health and Safety of Public Accommodation Facilities, Chapter 14.

Change-of-Owner Process:
As provided in section 9.3.5, permits issued under this regulation are not transferrable from person to person or place to place. An application and instruction sheet must be submitted for a new permit on an existing Public Accommodation. Applications complete with supporting documentation (copy of lease agreement, deed, etc.) may be completed and e-mailed to pa@snhd.org. Once reviewed for completeness and accepted, an invoice will be created and an invoice number will be return e-mailed to the applicant. The invoice number can be entered and paid on the Health District portal. An inspection will then be scheduled. Permit approval is subject to successfully passing inspection with no critical issues pending resolution. Appointments can be made by calling and leaving a message at (702) 759-1633. Mobile Home Parks

Mobile Home Parks are regulated by the Health District under portions NAC 461A not administered by the Nevada Department of Business and Industry – Manufactured Housing Division. As provided for in NRS 461A.223, paragraph 2, the Health District requires permits to be obtained and maintained for such parks, and site inspections are conducted annually.

New, Addition or Remodel:
As required by NRS 461A.223, paragraph 1, any new, expansion or major remodel of mobile home parks are required to obtain plan approval from the Health District prior to commencing such work. Septic, sewer, water, building or other major infrastructure alteration require such review and approval. An application and instruction sheet must be submitted for a new, addition or remodel of a Mobile Home Park, along with plans, specifications, scope of work, or other design information necessary to properly review the project. Change-of-Owner Process:
It is incumbent upon those acquiring a Mobile Home Park property to advise the Health District that such a change has taken place. An application and instruction sheet must be submitted for a new permit on an existing Mobile Home Park. Applications complete with supporting documentation (copy of lease agreement, deed, etc.) may be completed and e-mailed to pa@snhd.org. Once reviewed for completeness and accepted, an invoice will be created and an invoice number will be return e-mailed to the applicant. The invoice number can be entered and paid on our portal. An inspection will then be scheduled. Permit approval is subject to successfully passing inspection with no critical issues pending resolution. Appointments can be made by calling and leaving a message at (702) 759-1633. Calls will usually be returned by the next business day.

Recreational Vehicle Parks:
RV Parks are regulated by the Health District under SANITATION FACILITIES FOR CAMPING SPACES, NAC 444.5461-54675. As provided for in NAC 444.5463, paragraph 4, the Health District requires permits to be obtained and maintained for such parks, with routine site inspections conducted annually.

New, Addition or Remodel:
As required by NAC 444.5463, paragraph 2, any new, expansion or major remodel of RV parks are required to obtain plan approval from the Health District prior to commencing work. An application and instruction sheet must be submitted for a new, addition or remodel of a RV Park along with plans, specifications, scope of work, or other design information necessary to properly review the project, no later than 30 days before the anticipated opening date. The following information is required:

  • Names and addresses of owners or operators;
  • Location of facilities;
  • Size of camp and facilities;
  • Number of camping spaces available;
  • Water availability;
  • Sewage system and sanitation facilities;
  • Garbage facilities; and
  • Availability of open pit fires or enclosed fire facilities.

Change-of-Owner Process:
As provided in NAC 444.5463, paragraph 4, is incumbent upon those acquiring a RV Park property to advise the Health District that such a change has taken place. An application and instruction sheet must be submitted for a new permit on an existing RV Park no later than 30 days after the transfer date. Applications complete with supporting documentation (copy of lease agreement, deed, etc.) may be completed and e-mailed to pa@snhd.org. Once reviewed for completeness and accepted, an invoice will be created and an invoice number will be return e-mailed to the applicant. The invoice number can be entered and paid on our portal. An inspection will then be scheduled. Permit approval is subject to successfully passing inspection with no critical violations pending resolution. Appointments can be made by calling and leaving a message at (702) 759-1633. Calls will usually be returned by the next business day.
