Health District encourages parents to bring their children in for their back-to-school shots

The school year begins on Monday, August 8 and parents and guardians can ensure their children are appropriately immunized at a Southern Nevada Health District immunization clinic. The Health District encourages parents and guardians to bring their kindergartners, 7th and 12th graders to its immunization clinics for their mandatory school vaccines before the first day of school. The Health District’s immunization clinics are open Monday through Friday. Walk-in immunization services are available at the 280 S. Decatur Blvd. public health center. Appointments for services at other neighborhood public health centers can be made by calling (702) 759-0850 or (702) 759-1682 for appointments at the Mesquite Public Health Center.

Health District kicks off its Soda Free Summer Challenge

How about sitting down to a whopping 10 teaspoons of sugar? That is the amount of sugar in a 12-ounce can of regular soda. These drinks contribute to obesity, tooth decay, and type 2 diabetes. This summer, the Southern Nevada Health District’s Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion is launching its Soda Free Summer Challenge to encourage children and adults to opt for healthier beverages and reduce or eliminate sugary drinks. The Challenge kicks off Thursday, May 5 and continues through Saturday, August 6. Promotoras Las Vegas (PLV) will bring education and information to the Hispanic community through social media and community events. Health District names 2022 Public Health Heroes

A public health hero is an individual or organization that embodies one or more of the essential functions of public health and the Southern Nevada Health District recognizes those whose actions improve the health status of the community. Today, the Health District announced its 2022 Public Health Heroes at its April Board of Health meeting. This year, Dr. Shawn Gerstenberger, dean, and Max Gakh, associate professor, from UNLV’s School of Public Health, and Jeremy Lovell, health facilities inspector, from the Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance at the State of Nevada, were named the 2022 Public Health Heroes.

COVID-19 Update

This week, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 8,421 Clark County residents have died from COVID-19, an increase of 66. Health District staff have been performing and ongoing data review which includes performing a data linkage between cases reported in the system and death certificate data. As a result of this review, 85 deaths were added to the Health District’s report — 71 from the review process, and 19 were removed. The breakdown of the backlog by date of death is included below:

2022 County Health Rankings Released

Clark County ranks 6th healthiest in Nevada according to the annual County Health Rankings. The County Health Rankings are released each year using data from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI) and are available at www.countyhealthrankings.org.

Southern Nevada Health District recognizes National Infant Immunization Week, April 25-29

Immunizations are one of public health’s most important accomplishments and they protect infants and children from 14 vaccine-preventable illnesses. The COVID-19 pandemic interrupted some routine vaccinations for many children and National Infant Immunization Week is a perfect opportunity to bring children’s immunizations up-to-date. During National Infant Immunization Week, the Southern Nevada Health District will offer free or low-cost immunizations to infants who are eligible for the Vaccines for Children program at its four public health centers. In addition, the Health District will have free giveaways and a chance to win prizes. Health District Commemorates National Transgender HIV Testing Day, Monday, April 18

The Southern Nevada Health District and its partners recognize the importance of routine HIV testing, knowing one’s HIV status, and the continued focus on HIV prevention, treatment and reducing HIV stigma for transgender and nonbinary people in the community. To commemorate National Transgender HIV Testing Day on Monday, April 18, the Southern Nevada Health District is encouraging transgender and nonbinary persons to get tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections as well as learn about HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Services are available from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Sexual Health Clinic, 280 S. Decatur Blvd., Las Vegas NV 89107. At-home HIV testing kits are also available through the Collect2Protect program. Testing is free and confidential.

Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

This week, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 8,180 Clark County residents have died from COVID-19, an increase of 356. Of those deaths, 306 are the result of a reporting backlog and comprehensive data review by staff. Health District commemorates STD Awareness Week, April 10-16

STD Awareness Week is April 10-16, and the Southern Nevada Health District is reminding everyone about the importance of their sexual health and encouraging individuals and health care providers to talk, test and treat to protect their health, the health of their partners, and patients. Throughout April, the Health District’s mobile testing unit and Linkage to Action team will be providing education, resources, testing and services throughout Clark County. The Health District is also offering Express Testing at its Sexual Health Clinic, 280 S. Decatur Blvd. and at All Saints Episcopal Church, 4201 W. Washington Ave., as well as at-home testing through the Collect2Protect program, which provides a convenient and private testing option. In addition, the mobile testing unit will at Siegel Suites, 454 E. Twain Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89169 between 9 a.m. and noon, Tuesday, April 12, to provide free rapid HIV testing and hepatitis C testing.

Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

As of April 4, a total of 499,121 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Clark County. A total of 7,825 Clark County residents have died from COVID-19. The Health District is updating its reporting to include reinfections in case counts; however, due to a change in methodology, this week’s update does not include reinfections. Cases that will be counted as reinfections are individuals who test positive more than 90 days after their initial infection.

Pop-up produce market offers fresh fruit and veggies for about a buck

The Veggie Buck Truck is back! Pop-up produce markets are scheduled at the Bonneville Transit Center (BTC) in spring and fall with an additional location at the Southern Nevada Health District. Patrons will pay about a dollar for a pound of fresh fruit or vegetables. The program is a partnership between the Southern Nevada Health District’s Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), and the Veggie Buck Truck in an effort to increase access to low-cost, healthy fresh fruit and vegetables. Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

On Tuesday, March 29, the Southern Nevada Health District announced that second booster doses are now available at its clinics for people age 50 and older and people age 12 and older who are immunocompromised, provided it has been at least four months since they received their first booster dose. This follows authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Second COVID-19 booster doses available at Southern Nevada Health District clinics

Second COVID-19 booster doses are now available for people 50 and older and people 12 and older who are immunocompromised at Southern Nevada Health District vaccination clinics. Second boosters were authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated its recommendation for certain immunocompromised individuals and people over the age of 50 who received an initial booster dose at least four months previously.

Las Vegas Lights FC go smoke-free

In a win for Southern Nevada, the Las Vegas Lights FC home games at Cashman Field are now smoke-free. The decision by the Lights includes all tobacco products as well as e-cigarettes and vaping products. The current season continues through October with 17 home games remaining. The policy includes all areas within Cashman Field.

Health District commemorates World TB Day on March 24

In the United States, many believe tuberculosis (TB) is a far-off or eradicated illness. While rates of TB have declined, it still exists. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 7,000 cases were reported in the United States in 2020. In Clark County, the Southern Nevada Health District confirmed 51 cases in 2020. Globally, approximately 10 million people develop TB each year. World TB Day is observed each year on March 24 to recognize that too many people still suffer from the disease and to emphasize the need to continue to find and treat those with TB.

Southern Nevada Health District Statement

The Southern Nevada Health District is continuing its investigation and review of information regarding Secret of Siam. With the LVMPD criminal investigation completed and a review by the appropriate business licensing agency completed, the Health District is allowing the restaurant to reopen with several conditions, including discarding food product, additional inspections and ongoing follow-up with the Health District’s Food Operations program. The Health District will provide an update when it is able.

Southern Nevada Health District starts weekly COVID-19 dashboard reporting schedule

The Southern Nevada Health District’s COVID-19 dashboard is updated on a weekly basis beginning today, Wednesday, March 16. The Health District’s weekly update will now include the 7-day average of probable cases and the Risk Metrics section will reflect additional surveillance data based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) new community level transmission guidelines. The weekly dashboard will continue to include total confirmed cases, MIS-C cases, total hospitalizations and deaths as well as the number of cases reported in the past seven days. Additionally, the Health District’s trends, aggregate reports, maps, breakthrough case, and city reports will be posted weekly.

COVID-19 metrics have continued to steadily decline in Clark County, and the Southern Nevada Health District will begin updating its dashboard on a weekly basis. The last daily update to the dashboard will occur on Friday, March 11. The Health District’s COVID-19 dashboard, aggregate and trend reports will be updated and posted each Wednesday, beginning March 16.

National Health Survey is Coming to Clark County

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), the most comprehensive survey of the health and nutritional status of the U.S. population, is coming once again to Clark County, NV, beginning March 11, 2022. Why Clark County? All counties and cities in the United States have a chance to be selected for the NHANES and, this year, Clark County is one of 15 counties selected to be part of this initiative. Each year, only 5,000 residents nationwide are chosen to participate in NHANES, conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Health District continues to report a decline in the number of cases as well as positivity rates in the community. Based on recent data, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now classifies Clark County as having medium disease transmission. The Health District reminds the community that variants continue to circulate in Clark County and there is always potential for new variants to develop. Southern Nevada Health District disease investigation update

The Southern Nevada Health District continues to work with its partners to investigate a potential association between THC toxicity and the consumption of food or drink from Secret of Siam Thai Cuisine restaurant located at 5705 Centennial Center Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89149. As of February 24, 2022, several dozen patrons have reported they consumed items from the restaurant between January 28, 2022, and February 14, 2022, and experienced symptoms. Initial signs and symptoms included hallucinations, blurry vision, increased heart rate, disorientation or confusion, dizziness, loss of consciousness, dry mouth, and numbness or tingling in extremities. Some patrons who reported they did not intentionally consume or use marijuana in the previous 30 days tested positive for THC on a laboratory toxicological screen. All patrons have recovered. Additional reports of similar symptoms in additional patrons are under investigation.

The drive-thru site at Texas Station, 101 Texas Star Lane off Rancho Drive, last day of operation is Sunday, February 20. To date, the site has administered more than 15,400 tests. Drive-thru COVID-19 Testing Site at Texas Station Ends Sunday; Sam Boyd Stadium Site Operations Ending March 10, Closed This Sunday

The last day of operations for the drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at Texas Station will be Sunday, Feb. 20.  The drive-thru site at UNLV’s Sam Boyd Stadium also will be closed this Sunday and will resume operations Monday through Thursday. The last day of operations for the Sam Boyd site, which offers drive-thru COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, will be Thursday, March 10, officials announced.

Nevada’s mask mandate was lifted on Thursday, February 10. While masks are no longer required in public indoor places, the Health District continues to encourage people to use all the tools they have available to protect themselves and others while disease transmission remains high in the community. Everyone should get fully vaccinated, get a booster when eligible, and stay home when they are sick. While there is no longer a mask mandate in place, masks are proven to be effective at protecting people and lowering the risk of disease transmission. Southern Nevada Health District, Southern Nevada HIV Awareness Consortium will observe National HIV/AIDS Awareness Day with free services

To commemorate National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day , the Southern Nevada Health District and the Southern Nevada HIV Awareness Consortium will provide free, rapid HIV testing, STD screenings, and education about pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP, PEP) from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m., Monday, February 7 at Nucleus Plaza, 1040 W. February is American Heart Month and the perfect opportunity to assess heart health and identify or manage risk factors for heart disease, such as high blood pressure. Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

The Southern Nevada Health District confirmed the first reported case of COVID-19 caused by the BA.2 subvariant of the Omicron variant. The Southern Nevada Public Health Laboratory tested the specimen and is continuing to provide genome sequencing of a sampling of positive COVID-19 cases to determine the presence of variants in the community.

Southern Nevada Health District expands Paxlovid availability

Last week, the Southern Nevada Health District received 120 treatment courses of the COVID-19 medication, Paxlovid and began offering the treatment to patients who test positive, are symptomatic, over the age of 65, and meet the criteria for taking the medication. Today, accessibility to treatment is being expanded to include people 12 to 64 years of age with a positive COVID-19 test who are at higher risk for severe illness. People in this group must also have symptoms of COVID-19, and those symptoms must have started within the last five days. Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

The Southern Nevada Health District has received 120 treatment courses of the COVID-19 medication, PAXLOVID. This will enable the Health District to provide treatment to 120 individuals. The Health District will order additional courses of treatment when supplies become available. Due to limited supplies, initially this treatment will be offered to preferable patients who arrive at the Health District’s testing site who are symptomatic, have a COVID-19 positive test, and are over the age of 65. This treatment is an option that can be offered to people early in their infection to prevent complications and deaths.

Due to increased testing demands, the Southern Nevada Health District and Clark County will open a second drive thru testing location at Fiesta Henderson, 777 W. Lake Mead Parkway. The site opens at 3 p.m., Saturday, January 15 and will operate in the property’s parking garage. The Fiesta Henderson testing site will operate Saturday through Wednesday between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. by appointment. This location will be open on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 17. New Drive-thru COVID-19 Testing Sites to Open at Texas Station, Fiesta Henderson

In response to a local surge in testing demand, the Southern Nevada Health District and Clark County will open two drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites in the parking garages at Texas Station and Fiesta Henderson hotel and casinos with support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). These sites are operated by eTrueNorth, a DHHS contractor. The sites will be available for 21 days. The sites are available by appointment and people can register on the eTrueNorth website: www.INeedaCOVID19Test.com. People can register for their appointment three days prior to their preferred date.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is announcing the highest number of COVID-19 cases reported in a single day since the beginning of the pandemic. As of January 7,  there have been 392,971 cases of COVID-19 reported in Clark County, an increase of 6,110 cases over the previous day. In addition, the Health District is reporting 15 deaths. Southern Nevada Health District expands COVID-19 testing hours

The Southern Nevada Health District is expanding COVID-19 testing hours at its College of Southern Nevada sites to meet the demand for testing in Clark County. Beginning tomorrow, January 5, the Health District’s College of Southern Nevada COVID-19 locations will offer testing Monday through Thursday (previously Tuesday through Friday), from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (previously 12 p.m.-4 p.m.). The sites are located at the Henderson Campus, 700 College Dr., Henderson, NV 89002; North Las Vegas, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave, North Las Vegas, NV 89030; and West Charleston Campus, 6375 W. Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is announcing the highest number of COVID-19 cases reported in a single day since the beginning of the pandemic. Today, the Health District is reporting a significant increase in COVID-19 cases in the community. As of December 28, there have been 363,685 cases of COVID-19 reported in Clark County, an increase of 2,201 cases over the previous day. Healthy Holidays from the Southern Nevada Health District

The Southern Nevada Health District is wishing everyone a Healthy and Happy Holiday! It is the season when people gather together, and the Health District wants everyone to enjoy their time with family and friends as safely as possible. The most effective way people can keep their family and loved ones safe is to get a COVID-19 vaccine. People with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID should get tested and stay home. People who are not fully vaccinated should delay travel, and everyone eligible should get a booster dose. Southern Nevada Health District provides fentanyl test strips to the public to help save lives in the community

As deaths from overdoses in Clark County have increased by 34 percent in 2020, the Southern Nevada Health District secured resources to distribute fentanyl test strips to the public and provide education and information to community partners so they can distribute them as well. The fentanyl test strips are available through the Health District’s pharmacy located at 280 S. Decatur Blvd. The test strips include easy-to-follow instructions and are similar to reading an at-home pregnancy test. The test strips detect fentanyl and fentanyl analogs. A study conducted by Johns Hopkins and Brown University found that test strips were accurate and easy to use.

Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

The Southern Nevada Health District confirmed the state’s first reported case of COVID-19 caused by the Omicron variant on December 14. The individual who tested positive is a fully vaccinated female in her mid-20s who did not receive a booster dose of the vaccine. The individual traveled out of the country during the incubation period. Upon return, she had symptoms consistent with COVID-19.  She is not hospitalized and is isolating. Part of the Health District’s investigation includes identifying contacts of the case and making the appropriate recommendations for testing and quarantine.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Test & Vaccination Site at UNLV Closed Next Week

The drive-thru COVID-19 testing and vaccination site in the parking lot of UNLV’s Paradise Campus at 851 E. Tropicana Ave. will be closed next week, Sunday, Dec. 19 through Thursday, Dec. 23. It will to re-open Sunday, Dec. 26, for its normal operations of five nights a week, Sunday through Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The site is located just east of Paradise Road across from UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center.

Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has strengthened its booster dose recommendations to include people age 16 and 17 if they completed their initial Pfizer BioNTech vaccine series at least six months ago. The CDC now recommends booster doses for everyone age 16 and older. Adolescent booster doses are available at Southern Nevada Health District clinics.

Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

The Southern Nevada Health District conducts ongoing surveillance for variants. To date, no cases of the Omicron variant have been reported in Clark County. The most effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its variants is to get vaccinated, get a booster when eligible, wear a mask in public indoor settings, practice good hand hygiene, and for people to stay home and get tested if they are sick or have symptoms of COVID-19 or have had contact with a confirmed or suspected case.

‘Tis the season to get vaccinated against flu!

The holiday season also means flu season, and both have officially arrived in Clark County. The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting seven confirmed hospitalized cases of influenza, and while flu activity in the state is minimal so far, it typically increases in the community around the holidays. During National Influenza Vaccination Week, December 5-11, the Health District is urging everyone to get vaccinated.

The Southern Nevada Health District is providing a weekly summary of COVID-19 data and new or updated information about COVID-19 clinics and resources. The COVID-19 Dashboard has been updated. Its Vaccination Summary now includes the percentage of people age 5 and older who have initiated and completed their vaccinations. In addition, the Dashboard now includes cumulative probable COVID-19 cases.

Health District holds grand opening for its Sexual Health Clinic at All Saints Episcopal Church on December 1, World AIDS Day

December 1 marks World AIDS Day, and the Southern Nevada Health District will host a grand opening at 8 a.m. for its new Sexual Health Clinic at All Saints Episcopal Church. The clinic is located at 4201 W. Washington Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89107 and will be offering free rapid HIV testing in commemoration of World AIDS Day. The Health District and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) encourage everyone age 13 to 64 to get tested at least once to learn their HIV status. Services will be available between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

Just in time for the holidays, booster doses are now available to all adults 18 years of age and older. People age 18 and older who have completed their initial series with the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines six months ago or more after the initial series is complete or adults 18 and older who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine two months after their first vaccine can get a booster at Health District clinic locations. The booster dose can be the same vaccine originally received or a different vaccine. COVID-19 boosters are safe, effective and free.

The Great American Smokeout is Thursday, Nov. 18

Thursday, November 18 marks the 44th Great American Smokeout, an opportunity for smokers to take the first step to quit smoking. It is estimated that seven out of 10 smokers would like to quit smoking. The Southern Nevada Health District has cessation resources and tools as well as information about alternative tobacco products and smoke-free living on its  Get Healthy Clark County website.

Health District begins administering COVID-19 vaccine to children age 5-11

The Southern Nevada Health District began to administer Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine today to children between the ages of 5 and 11 at its main clinic at 280 S. Latinx AIDS Awareness Day event rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 5

The Southern Nevada Health District and the Southern Nevada HIV Awareness Coalition will offer rapid HIV testing, information about pre- and post-exposure HIV treatment options (PreP/PEP), as well as substance abuse treatment and resources at the 10th annual free health fair event for National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) on Friday, November 5, from noon to 5 p.m. at Killer Sound, 4884 E. November is American Diabetes Month

In Clark County, approximately 11 percent of adults have been diagnosed with diabetes, one of the most prevalent diseases in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 34 million people in the United States have diabetes. American Diabetes Month is an opportunity to remind people who are living with diabetes as well as those at risk of developing it that there are options available to protect their health.

The Health District is also reporting the seven-day average of new positive cases as of October 24 is 293 cases, while the 7-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.9 percent. A total of 5,963 Clark County residents have died from COVID-19.

Health District offering Pfizer COVID-19 booster doses

Booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine are available at Southern Nevada Health District and community vaccination clinics for people who are eligible. Booster doses of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine have not been authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and are not currently being administered at vaccination clinics. The FDA and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are both expected to meet later this week. The FDA is meeting to decide authorization of boosters and the CDC will make final recommendations for administering the vaccines. The Health District will begin administering the vaccine in accordance with CDC recommendations once all steps at the federal, state and local levels have been completed.

Henderson CSN vaccine and testing site clinic temporarily relocated

The Southern Nevada Health District’s COVID-19 testing and vaccine clinic site located at the College of Southern Nevada Henderson campus located at 700 College Dr., Henderson, NV 89002 will be temporarily relocated to the Student Union on Thursday, October 7, and Friday, October 8. Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration held a meeting to discuss the issue of administering additional doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the general public, and specifically, recommendations related to administering booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The FDA advisory committee did vote not to recommend boosters for everyone 16 and older; however, it did recommend a booster for individuals age 65 and older or those who are at a high risk of severe COVID-19 illness. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will make final recommendations for the use of the vaccine. The Southern Nevada Health District would then begin administering booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine in accordance with CDC guidance.

Pop-up produce market offers fresh fruit and veggies for about a buck

One dollar for a pound of fresh fruit or a bundle of veggies? That’s about how much people will pay at the Veggie Buck Truck at the pop-up produce market at the Bonneville Transit Center (BTC). Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update

The Southern Nevada Health District’s weekly report regarding COVID-19 infections after vaccination has been expanded and now includes additional information, including trends. The report is available at www.snhd.info/covid-breakthrough. As of September 2, the Health District has received reports of 7,634 fully vaccinated individuals testing positive for COVID-19. This represents 544 cases out of every 100,000 fully vaccinated people. The Health District is reporting a total of 112 deaths that have occurred in fully vaccinated Clark County residents. This represents eight deaths out of every 100,000 fully vaccinated people. By comparison, the case rate is 562 deaths per 100,000 unvaccinated people.

Mosquitoes in Clark County test positive for West Nile Virus

Mosquitoes trapped by the Southern Nevada Health District’s Mosquito Surveillance Program in the 89014 ZIP code have tested positive for West Nile virus, the first this season in Clark County. The Health District is reminding people that “yes” there are mosquitoes in Southern Nevada, and to protect themselves from mosquito bites when they are outdoors.

Southern Nevada Harm Reduction Alliance hosts its fifth International Overdose Awareness Day event, Aug. 31

The Southern Nevada Harm Reduction Alliance (SNHRA) is hosting its fifth International Overdose Awareness Day event between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 31 at Chuck Minker Sports Complex 275 N. Mojave Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89101. The event provides an opportunity for participants to acknowledge the loss of friends and loved ones to fatal drug overdoses and will include a panel discussion with community members discussing their overdose-related experiences. A naloxone (Narcan®) training will be offered, and attendees will have the opportunity to pick up overdose prevention kits.

Southern Nevada Health District Statement on Ivermectin

Unfortunately, people are turning to untested, unauthorized, and in many cases unsafe treatments for COVID-19. Recently, there has been increased interest in a drug called ivermectin. Ivermectin is a drug used in the United States to treat or prevent parasites in animals and for specific uses in humans. The doses and forms for humans and animals are different. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been receiving reports of patients who have been hospitalized after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses.
