Updated COVID-19 boosters available at Health District clinics

LAS VEGAS – The updated COVID-19 vaccines boosters are now available at Southern Nevada Health District clinic locations. These updated COVID-19 vaccines provide additional protection from the BA.4 and BA.5 lineages of the Omicron variant of the virus, which is currently causing most cases of COVID-19 and is predicted to circulate this fall and winter. The boosters also protect against the original strain of the virus.

The Pfizer bivalent booster vaccine is authorized for people ages 12 years and older.
The Moderna bivalent booster vaccine is authorized for people ages 18 years and older.
The new bivalent booster vaccines are authorized as a single booster dose administered at least two months after completion of the primary series with a COVID-19 vaccine or at least two months after receiving the most recent dose of a previously available booster.

The Centers for Disease Prevention and Control provides a resource for assisting individuals make decisions about getting COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters for themselves and their children. Individuals are up to date on the COVID-19 vaccines when they have completed a COVID-19 primary series (two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or one dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine) and received the most recent booster dose recommended for them by the CDC.
