The last day of operations for the drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at Texas Station will be Sunday, Feb. 20.  The drive-thru site at UNLV’s Sam Boyd Stadium also will be closed this Sunday and will resume operations Monday through Thursday. The last day of operations for the Sam Boyd site, which offers drive-thru COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, will be Thursday, March 10, officials announced.

The drive-thru testing operation at Texas Station, located at 101 Texas Star Lane off Rancho Drive, operates 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Wednesday through Sunday. Appointments can be made at www.INeedaCOVID19Test.com or by calling 1-800-635-8611. The Texas Station site and an operation at the Fiesta Henderson, which closed Feb. 2, opened in early January in response to a surge in local testing demand following the holidays and as COVID-19 cases increased due to the Omicron variant. To date, the combined operations have administered more than 28,900 tests. The sites operated as a collaboration with Clark County, the Southern Nevada Health District, the state of Nevada, the U.S.  Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), North Las Vegas, Henderson and TrueNorth, a DHHS contractor.

The Sam Boyd Stadium drive-thru site offers COVID-19 vaccinations and tests five nights a week, Sunday through Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. No appointments are necessary. Tests and vaccinations are available on a first-come, first-served basis depending on daily supplies and staffing. The site is operated by Clark County, Nevada National Guard, the Southern Nevada Health District in partnership with UNLV and others. The site, which began operations in August outside UNLV’s Stan Fulton building on East Flamingo Road, has administered about more than 49,900 COVID-19 tests and 4,400 vaccinations since operations began last summer.

The Southern Nevada Health District offers free COVID-19 vaccines and tests at several community sites listed on its website at www.snhd.info/covid. Other locations offering tests and vaccinations, including local pharmacies, also can be found on the Nevada Response website at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and shortness of breath. Those who experience symptoms are encouraged to get tested and to stay home if they are sick to limit community spread of the virus. COVID-19 vaccines remain the most effective measure to protect against serious illness, hospitalization and death. Health officials recommend that everyone 5 years and older get fully vaccinated, and everyone 12 and older who is vaccinated get a booster dose when eligible to protect themselves and others from the virus.
