Health District, youth advocates rally for tobacco-free future at CSN

College students are at the center of a growing push for healthier campuses, and local youth are leading the charge. The Southern Nevada Health District’s Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion’s Tobacco Control Program and the Students Promoting Awareness Responsibility & Knowledge (SPARK) Youth Advisory Council will host an interactive outreach event at the College of Southern Nevada’s (CSN) West Charleston campus to educate students, faculty and staff about the benefits of a tobacco-free campus.

Southern Nevada Health District honors 2026 Public Health Heroes

From expanding access to lifesaving resources to ensuring students are fed and ready to learn, the Southern Nevada Health District is spotlighting the people and programs making a real difference as it honors its 2026 Public Health Heroes. The recognition takes place today during the Southern Nevada District Board of Health meeting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, in the Red Rock Conference Room at the Main Public Health Center, 280 S. Decatur Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89107.

World TB Day spotlight: Tuberculosis remains a global threat

The Southern Nevada Health District will observe World TB Day on Tuesday, March 24, with the theme, “Yes! We Can End TB!” Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world’s leading infectious disease killers, causing an estimated 1.3 million deaths affecting 10.7 million people globally in 2025. TB occurs in every country and across all age groups, although most cases are concentrated in parts of Asia and Africa.

Health District encourages residents to join YMCA Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program

The Southern Nevada Health District’s Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion invites Clark County residents to participate in the YMCA’s upcoming Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program, offered by the YMCA of Southern Nevada. The 16-week program, launching this month, aims to help people reduce and manage their blood pressure over time. It is designed for people who have high blood pressure or may be at risk of developing it.

Pop-Up Produce Stands return to Bonneville Transit Center in spring 2026

Pop-Up Produce Stands will return to the Bonneville Transit Center (BTC) this spring, offering affordable, regionally grown fruits and vegetables to the community. Shoppers can use SNAP/EBT, cash, debit or credit cards. Double Up Food Bucks, a nutrition incentive program for SNAP users will be offered, and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons will also be accepted when available.

Statement from the Southern Nevada Health District

The intent of the proposed updates is to modernize 17-year-old regulations, clarify standards, and strengthen groundwater protections as Clark County continues to grow. The Southern Nevada Health District has heard clearly from residents regarding the proposed updates to septic system regulations. After approximately 1,000 community members attended the recent public meeting, the meeting was postponed to allow for additional review and community discussion. We appreciate the strong community engagement and want to clarify both what was proposed — and how we are moving forward.

Health District and Foundation for Recovery celebrate achievement

The Southern Nevada Health District and the Foundation for Recovery are marking a key milestone in their effort to prevent opioid overdoses in Clark County. Since July 2025, canvassers have knocked on nearly 53,000 doors to share information about overdose awareness and prevention.
