Online Renewal

We are currently offering online Food Handler Safety Training Card renewals to qualified food handlers only. See below to determine whether or not you qualify for online renewal or if an in-person test is required. Certified Food Safety Manager Cards can NOT be renewed online. If you renew online, you will NOT receive a physical card. Upon passing the test, you will be given a link to download a certificate that you must print and carry OR save to your smartphone. Employers should honor this certificate just as they would the card. If you require a card, please make an appointment to renew in person instead.

NOTE TO EMPLOYERS: Food Handlers who renew their card online will receive a certificate rather than a physical card. It contains the SNHD logo and the food handler’s photo, name, card number and expiration date. Our inspectors will accept the certificate either printed or saved to the food handler’s smartphone. We strongly encourage employers to allow their staff to carry the certificate, as it serves as a replacement for the card. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Who qualifies to renew their card online?

MAY RENEW ONLINE

If you took the iPad-based food safety test in-person at an SNHD office after July 2018 (expiration date after July 2021), you can renew online rather than in person. Standard card fees apply. No appointment is needed. Please follow the instructions below on how to renew online.

Card numbers that start with 1-9 are eligible.

MAY NOT RENEW ONLINE

If you previously completed the one-hour video, took your test through Vegas PBS or another entity, or took your last in-person test July 2018 or earlier, you are required to make an appointment to come in to test in-person for your renewal at one of our Food Handler Card testing locations.

Card numbers that start with 0 are not eligible.

How to renew online, if eligible

Study and prepare for the test. We have free training materials available online. You must pass the test with a score of 70% or higher.
Click the light blue button below to proceed to the test. You will need your previous card number and expiration date.
If you qualify, confirm your email address and take the 10-question online renewal test.
If you pass, pay the $20 card fee (plus a $15 late fee, if applicable). We accept credit and debit cards only. Payment vouchers are not accepted online.
Download and print the Food Handler Safety Training Certificate or save it to your smartphone. The certificate replaces the physical card and is valid for 3 years.

Please note: If you receive a duplicate record error, you likely have a past or future appointment in our system, which must be cancelled before you can renew online. Please visit this link to look up and cancel that appointment. If no appointment is found, email healthcards@snhd.org for assistance.

REMEMBER: IF YOU RENEW ONLINE, NO PHYSICAL CARD WILL BE MAILED.
