More than 100 wells are monitored through the health district's administration of the Safe Drinking Water Act (15 or more connections or serving 25 or more individuals).
Operators are trained in how to take bacteriological samples and how to detect any cross contamination between sewer and water systems. Contamination of water systems is guarded against through control of illegal waste water dumping, in cooperation with Clark County Sanitation District.
Most public drinking water in Clark County comes from Lake Mead and is provided by several public water companies. These water systems are monitored and licensed by the Nevada State Health Division ((775) 687-6615).
