Fifth vaping-related illness confirmed in Clark County

The Southern Nevada Health District has confirmed a fifth case of lung injury associated with e-cigarettes or vaping product use in a Clark County resident. The individual is over the age of 18. The five reported cases in Clark County include one individual under the age of 18 and two under the age of 20. The first case confirmed in Clark County was reported in September 2019.

The Health District promotes its cessation resources in support of the Great American Smokeout

LAS VEGAS – Seven out of 10 smokers say they want to quit. Thursday, Nov. 21, is the 42nd Great American Smokeout, and the Southern Nevada Health District has smoking cessation resources and tools, as well as information about alternative tobacco products, smoke-free living and smoke-free meeting spaces on its GetHealthyClarkCounty.org website to support those taking that first, second, or multiple attempts to quit.

Fourth vaping-related illness confirmed in Clark County

The Southern Nevada Health District has confirmed a fourth case of severe respiratory illness linked to e-cigarettes in a Clark County resident. The individual is over the age of 18. The Health District previously reported cases in an individual under the age of 18 and two over the age of 18. The first case confirmed in Clark County was reported in September 2019. Illness in Clark County resident linked to vaping

The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting Clark County’s first confirmed case of severe respiratory illness linked to e-cigarette products in a person under the age of 18. The youth was hospitalized with respiratory symptoms that met the case definition established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A pulmonary infection has not been identified. The patient was released from the hospital and is recovering.

Advisory: Nevada public health authorities recommend ceasing of e-cigarette, vaping product use

Carson City Health and Human Services, Southern Nevada Health District, and Washoe County Health District are warning the public of the potential for severe lung illness associated with the use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes). The public health authorities are advising people not to use vaping products and e-cigarettes. These products should never be used by youth, young adults, pregnant women, and people who do not currently use tobacco products.
