Southern Nevada Health District Services Update

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
May 10, 2012

LAS VEGAS – Due to the closure of its main facility as a result of an engineering report that found the main building lacks an internal support system, the health district has relocated services to its outlying public health centers. Updated information on service availability is also available on the health district website at www.SNHD.info or by calling the health district’s information line (702) 759-INFO (4636). Helpline information is available in English and Spanish. The health district has also created a new section of its website for one-stop building closure information. The direct link is www.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/building-closure.php.

New service updates:

  • The monthly Boys and Girls Club immunization clinic at the James Clubhouse, 2530 E. Carey Ave. in North Las Vegas, will resume Thursday, May 24. Clinics are the fourth Thursday of the month.

Previously announced service updates:

  • A 60-day grace period for health card renewals is in effect for cards that expired on or after Monday, April 16. The grace period does not apply to health cards that expired prior to that date. Clients who received a temporary health card on or after Monday, April 16 and are required to see the food safety movie now have 60 days instead of 30 days to do so.
  • Clients requesting immunization records should fax requests to 868-2825.
  • The food safety movie is available on Saturdays at the Cambridge Community Outreach Center. Movie times are 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Clients must sign in, they must present a valid form of identification (visit www.SNHD.info for acceptable forms of ID). Clients must arrive 30 minutes before the movie begins. Seating is limited. Clients who present their 30-day temporary health card will receive their permanent health card or receive proof they have attended the movie. No other health card services will be available on Saturday.
