Tuberculosis (TB) Testing Services

The Southern Nevada Health District Immunization Clinics offer low-cost Tuberculosis (TB) testing services to help individuals meet school, employment, volunteer, healthcare, and other screening requirements.

Tuberculosis is a disease caused by bacteria that typically affects the lungs. TB testing helps identify individuals who may have been infected with TB bacteria, even if they do not have symptoms. Early identification supports timely medical evaluation and treatment when needed.

Available TB Testing Options

Our clinics offer two types of TB testing:

Tuberculin Skin Test (TST/PPD)

Small amount of testing solution is placed just under the skin of the forearm. Clients must return to the clinic within 48–72 hours for the test to be read by a healthcare professional.

QuantiFERON®-TB Gold (QFT) Blood Test

A blood test that measures the body’s immune response to TB bacteria. This option does not require a return visit for test interpretation.

Important Information for Clients

  • Clients should be prepared to provide their primary care provider (PCP) information at the time of service.
  • If a client does not have a primary care provider, they will be referred to the Southern Nevada Community Health Center for ongoing care and follow-up.
  • QuantiFERON (QFT) test results can be accessed through the patient portal. Patients will be provided with instructions on how to connect to and use the portal to view their results.

Our healthcare professionals can help determine which TB testing option may be most appropriate based on individual needs and required documentation.
