COVID-19 Vaccine Update

Statement by Dr. Cassius, Lockett, District Health Officer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
September 3, 2025

LAS VEGAS—The Southern Nevada Health District does not yet have the updated COVID-19 vaccine available in our clinics. We do continue to have the previous formulation for people who are eligible.

Per ongoing guidelines, there should be at least two months in between any COVID-19 booster vaccines. We will notify the public when the updated vaccine is available at our clinics, along with eligibility guidelines approved by the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

The Southern Nevada Health District remains committed to providing COVID-19 vaccines to everyone who is eligible, including adults ages 65 and older and people with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe illness. COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and the best way to protect against severe illness, hospitalization and death.

In addition to staying up to date on COVID-19 vaccines, we encourage everyone to get a seasonal flu vaccine, practice healthy habits such as regular handwashing, and stay home when they are sick. Together, these steps help reduce the spread of illness and protect those most at risk.

The Southern Nevada Health District serves as the local public health authority for Clark County, Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas, Mesquite and North Las Vegas. The agency safeguards the public health of the community’s residents and visitors through innovative programs, regulations, and initiatives focused on protecting and promoting their health and well-being. More information about the Health District, its programs, services, and the regulatory oversight it provides is available at www.SNHD.info. Follow the Health District on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
