COVID-19 Vaccine Availability Update
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
September 4, 2025
LAS VEGAS—On Wednesday, September 3, the Southern Nevada Health District received updated guidance advising that the COVID-19 vaccine for the 2025–2026 season is preferred for use over the previously licensed vaccine. As a result, the Health District will no longer offer the earlier formulation.
The Health District is preparing to begin offering the updated vaccine and will announce when it is available in its clinics. While the updated vaccine can be provided before the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meets, people should be aware that insurance coverage may change once the committee issues its final recommendations.
Health District immunization clinics will continue to provide COVID-19 vaccines to everyone who is eligible, including adults ages 65 and older and people with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe illness. COVID-19 vaccines remain safe, effective, and the best way to protect against severe illness, hospitalization, and death.
In addition to staying up to date on COVID-19 vaccines, the Health District encourages everyone to get a seasonal flu vaccine, wash hands frequently with soap and water, cover coughs and sneezes, and stay home when sick. Together, these steps help reduce the spread of illness and protect those most at risk.
