Celebrando Tú Salud/Celebrating Your Health, Nov. 12

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
November 9, 2016

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District’s Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, in collaboration with Union Contra la Diabetes, will hold a health fair called Celebrando tu Salud during American Diabetes Month. Diabetes is a serious problem in the Hispanic/Latino community. Statistics indicate that diabetes affects twice as many Hispanic/Latinos in comparison to white, non-Latinos. It is important to provide information to this community regarding the seriousness of diabetes, its risk factors, and tools to help control the disease.

Celebrando Tú Salud is scheduled for 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, at Union Contra la Diabetes, 3930 E. Patrick Lane. For more information, please call (702) 207-0400.

Unión Contra la Diabetes will provide free blood glucose testing, weight, blood pressure, vision, and foot screenings. The Southern Nevada Health District will provide information and resources regarding free and low-cost services about preventing type 2 diabetes and how to prevent serious complications. The event will include entertainment, music, promotional items, a raffle, and more.
