Health District Opens North Las Vegas Public Health Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
October 24, 2012

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District will hold an open house today at its new North Las Vegas public health center, 955 W. Craig Rd., Suite 103D at Revere Street. The event marks the official grand opening of the new clinic, which offers: childhood immunizations; school and college mandated vaccinations; seasonal flu immunizations; immunization records; and a food safety training kiosk for health card applicants. The public health center is open Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. To commemorate the open house, the health district has created a special home page on its website: www.SNHD.info.

“The Southern Nevada Health District is pleased to return to North Las Vegas to provide much needed public health services,” said Dr. John Middaugh, interim chief health officer for the health district.

“We are thrilled to have the health district’s new public health center in North Las Vegas. It is so important for our residents to have access to services and there is a tremendous need in our community,” said North Las Vegas City Councilwoman Anita Wood, who represents the City of North Las Vegas on the District Board of Health.

The North Las Vegas Public Health Center is one of seven health district service sites in Clark County and is conveniently located near two central bus lines. In addition to opening this location the health district is in the process of relocating its main campus to its future home at 330 S. Valley View Blvd. as a result of the closure of its Shadow Lane facility in April. Currently, adult and childhood immunizations, as well as the environmental health division’s vector control program are the only services available at this location.
