FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 8, 2011

LAS VEGAS – Need a little extra time to get the kids vaccinated or apply for a health card?

Beginning Monday, June 13, the Southern Nevada Health District will offer extended clinic hours at two locations. Nursing services (including immunizations), health card services, and vital records (birth/death certificates) will be available Monday – Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the East Las Vegas Public Health Center, 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E-12; nursing and health card services will be available at the Henderson Public Health Center, 520 E. Lake Mead Parkway Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. No nursing services, including immunizations, health card services or vital records, if applicable, will be available at these two locations on Fridays. Beginning Monday, June 13, health card services will be available Monday – Thursday from 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Cambridge Community Outreach Center, 3900 Cambridge Street. For information, visit the health district website, www.SNHD.info.

All public health services, including immunizations, vital records (birth/death certificates), health cards and environmental health services, will be available Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the main public health center, 625 Shadow Lane. Environmental health services will be available at the Henderson Public Health Center Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

“When we have clinics after hours, we find that many clients are happy that they can come to the health district to get shots for their kids after 4:30 p.m. By extending our hours, we will be able accommodate clients who can’t make it during more traditional hours,” said Bonnie Sorenson, director of nursing. “We reviewed our service volume on Fridays at the two clinics and found that fewer people use them so it made sense to shift our resources to better serve our clients.”

“It’s important to remember that the health district will not be closing all of its locations on Friday. The main Shadow Lane campus will continue to be open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and all services, including immunizations, environmental health services, health card and vital record services will be available as always,” said Sorenson.
