Nursing Director Appointed at the Southern Nevada Health District

(Las Vegas, Nev., – May 12, 2005) – Bonnie Sorenson, RN, BSN, has been appointed director of nursing for the Southern Nevada Health District Nursing Division. As the director of nursing, she will oversee all nursing and clinic activities for the district. Ms. Sorenson had served as a public health nurse manager for the district, overseeing a number of programs including the immunization and sexually transmitted disease clinics, as well as the family planning and maternal child health units.

Ms. Sorenson brings a wealth of public health experience to this position, and has previously served as a nurse manager for the Brown County Health Department in Green Bay Wisconsin and a community health nurse. Ms. Sorenson has extensive experience in overseeing investigations, surveillance and evaluations of foodborne illnesses and communicable diseases including tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and sexually-transmitted diseases. Additionally, she has experience in community health and chronic disease programs, and has participated in local and statewide community assessments and strategic planning.
