Holiday recipe: Baked Pears with Feta, Honey and Cranberries
Ingredients (serves 4)
- 4 ripe but firm pears (Bosc or Anjou work well)
- ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
- ¼ cup dried cranberries
- 2–3 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling
- 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans (optional, for crunch)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Pinch of salt
- Fresh mint or rosemary for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat ovento 375°F
- Prepare the pears:
- Slice each pear in half lengthwise and scoop out the core with a spoon to make a small cavity.
- Brush lightly with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Make the filling:
- In a small bowl, mix feta, dried cranberries, nuts (if using), cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- Stuff the pears:
- Spoon the feta-cranberry mixture into the pear cavities.
- Bake:
- Place the pears in a baking dish and drizzle with 2–3 tablespoons of honey.
- Cover loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, until pears are tender but not mushy.
- Serve:
- Drizzle with extra honey if desired and garnish with fresh mint or rosemary.
- Serve warm as a holiday dessert or even as a festive side dish.
✨ Tips:
- For extra flavor, add a splash of orange juice or a pinch of nutmeg to the filling.
- You can roast them alongside a holiday main—the pears will pick up a subtle warmth from the oven.
