Rapid HIV Testing/Counseling Certification Program

Training Courses Available

The Empower Change Testing & Counseling Training Program for Rapid HIV Testing Certification Course is a free, face to face training course which will prepare participants, both experienced and new, with the skills, techniques, and knowledge to offer rapid HIV testing and counseling services within community-based organizations. Prior to the in-person part of class, online materials must be completed, and a knowledge assessment must be passed with at least a 70% to proceed.

TRAINING TOPICS:

• HIV epidemiology, acquisition, transmission, and prevention

• HIV testing techniques and mechanisms

• Active listening, observational, and counseling practices

• Available social and behavioral resources

HIV/AIDS Awareness

This course provides an overview of essential facts about HIV/AIDS, transmission, prevention, casual contact, testing procedures, state laws and regulations, medications, and services available to Clark County residents living with HIV/AIDS.

Additionally, the interactive course explores hepatitis A, B and C, and reviews the most common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Participants gain the knowledge to answer most common client questions about hepatitis and STDs.

There is a $50 fee for the course. Lunch will not be provided.

Additional HIV/STD Education

If your agency or organization would like additional HIV and/or STD education, fill out the Outreach and Educational Request Form. Requests must be made at least 30 days in advance due to the high volume of requests.
