The Office of Emergency Medical Services & Trauma System (EMS) provides medical direction and protocols for the county's emergency response system.
The EMS department approves the training for more than 3,000 certified emergency medical personnel at all levels: basics, intermediates, paramedics and pre-hospital nurses.
EMS oversees certification and licensure testing for EMS personnel and permits all emergency medical service agencies within the county.
