Tuberculosis Treatment & Control Clinic

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most deadly diseases in the world. According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2017 TB killed 1.3 million people around the world. TB continues to create challenges to health care workers, including new resistant strains, and co-infection with HIV.

The impacts of TB are felt all over the world, including here in Clark County. In 2011 there were 85 new active cases of TB identified in Clark County, with approximately 800 Clark County residents receiving treatment for latent TB infection at any time. TB control remains an important element of public health intervention.

The TB Treatment and Control Clinic works with its community partners to provide coordinated treatment and services to Clark County TB patients including:

  • Case management for all clients with TB. This includes education, treatment, and directly observed therapy.
  • Evaluation of new Class B immigrants in need of TB care and follow-up.
  • Contact investigations, including identification, testing and treatment of people with close relationships to people with active TB.
  • Education about TB treatment and control guidelines.
