Certifications and Registration

Qualified operators are required to have completed a national Qualified Pool Operator certification course. Qualified Pool Operator training courses must meet criteria outlined in the most current Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) published by the CDC. Training courses can be found by searching the internet or through your employer. The Southern Nevada Health District does not provide qualified operator training.

Qualified operators must register with the Health District once a certification is obtained prior to working at any aquatic facility or with any pool company. Operator registration will expire in conjunction with the national certification expiration and must be renewed prior to expiration.

Existing operators currently registered with the Health District who do not have a national certification will have three (3) years, until July 1, 2022, to complete a nationally recognized certification course. Send the completed application with a copy of your national certification to aquatic@snhd.org or fax to (702) 759-1485. Appointments are required to receive your operator card. Contact the office at aquatic@snhd.org or (702) 759-0572 for more information.

All Companies must register with the Health District and maintain a list of current employees servicing commercial aquatic venues. The completed registration application with copies of all operator’s Health District registrations can be sent to aquatic@snhd.org.
