Embracing Healthy Baby

Embracing Healthy Baby is a home visiting program that works to reduce the disparity in health status between populations, particularly in regards to populations experiencing high instances of infant mortality and high rates of other adverse perinatal outcomes such as Low Birth Weight in seventeen targeted ZIP codes in the cities of Las Vegas and North Las Vegas:

89030, 89031, 89032, 89084, 89086, 89101, 89103, 89106, 89108, 89109, 89115, 89118, 89119, 89128, 89130, 89156, 89169

Embracing Healthy Baby targets low socio-economic, African-American women and their children through the age of 1 year. Women do not have to be African-American to be served, but must reside in the target ZIP codes. Ideally, women enroll during pregnancy and are followed by their nurse or community health worker until their child turns 1 year of age.

Women do not have to be pregnant to enroll but do have to have a child 0-6 months old. Participation by families is voluntary. Families served have their own personal registered nurse and/or community health worker. Embracing Healthy Baby’s overall program goals are to strengthen families and improve child health outcomes.
