  • A Group Care Home is a child care facility, within a family residence, where the licensee regularly provides care, without the presence of parents, for at least seven children but no more than twelve children.

  • 6.2.1 Carpet/absorbent flooring location prohibitions
  • 6.10.1 Hand washing sink location and fixture height

  2. Submit a completed application for a Family Care or Group Care Home health permit using the forms provided by the Health District;
  3. Pay all applicable Health District fees;
  4. Review the Home Care Checklist — the items on the checklist must be provided before the permit is approved;
  5. Request a final inspection of the Family Care or Group Care Home facility prior to operation;
  6. Upon successful completion of the final inspection, receive written approval from the Health District to operate;
  7. Successfully complete all the steps required by the DBPH.

Issuance of Health Permit

If the Health District determines that the proposed Family Care or Group Care Home can be operated following the regulations, a health permit may be issued to the child care operator for the child care facility.

All persons responsible for the maintenance and operation of a child care facility must operate the facility following the Health District regulations. All health permits for Family Care and Group Care Homes are renewable each year. Permit issuance is conditional upon meeting the requirements of the regulations.

Health permits may be revoked or suspended for violation of the regulations in accordance with the procedures set forth in Sections 13 and 14.

Any health permit issued under the provisions of the regulations cannot be transferred by the health permit holder to any other person or entity, and is valid only for the particular premises described on the health permit and the type of facility and maximum number of children that can be cared for as described on the health permit.

Health Permit Fee Schedule

Pursuant to NRS 439.360(5), and under the authority of NRS 439.410(3), the District Board of Health adopts by reference, the current Health Permit Fee Schedule PDF 128KB as it applies to Family Care and Group Care Homes.

Posting a Health Permit

The current Family Care or Group Home Care health permit must be posted in plain view of the general public and must not be altered or defaced in any manner. The child care facility operator or other responsible person needs to maintain a copy of the regulations on file at the facility readily available for parental review.

Failure to Comply

Failure to comply with the provisions of the regulations may result in the suspension of the Family Care or Group Care Home health permit, and/or an administrative hearing.
