Gentamicin injection is used to treat certain bacterial infections and is an alternate treatment recommended by the CDC for Gonorrhea.

**Do not have sexual contact with another person with or without a condom for 7 days. This gives your body time to heal and also prevents the spread of the disease.**

To minimize discomfort at the injection sites, massage and rotate warm compresses off and on to help to improve blood flow.

Gentamicin may cause side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain at injection site, headache, and fever. If you experience these side effects and they are severe or do not go away, seek medical advice.

The following symptoms are uncommon but if you experience any of them, go to the emergency room or call 911: Rash, peeling or blistering of the skin, itching, hives, swelling of the eyes, face, throat, tongue or lips, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or hoarseness.
