News Release For Immediate Release Southern Nevada Health District offers back-to-school immunizations Las Vegas – The Southern Nevada health District offers back-to-school immunizations Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at its public health centers. The health district’s Shadow Lane location will hold special immunization clinics between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, 11, 18 and 25; sports physicals will be available during the Saturday clinics for $25. In addition, the health district’s Shadow Lane public health center will remain open until 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 through Friday, Aug. 24 and Monday, Aug. 27 through Friday, Aug. 31. Other health district services will not be available during the Saturday clinics or after 4:30 p.m. For more information, contact the Southern Nevada Health District’s immunization office at (702) 759-0850 or visit www.SouthernNevadaHealthDistrict.org. Parents must bring immunization records. Children with no immunization records will have to begin the immunization sequence from the beginning. Non-custodial adults may accompany a child, however, written consent must be provided to the health district from the parent or guardian at the time of service. An administrative fee of $16 per patient for one immunization or $20 per patient for two or more immunizations will be collected. Some vaccines might require an additional fee. The Clark County School District requires the following vaccinations for students enrolling in public or private school: chickenpox (varicella); hepatitis A; hepatitis B; polio; diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTP); and measles, mumps, rubella (MMR). Parents who have recently moved to Nevada should note the chickenpox and hepatitis A vaccinations are not required in all states, so immunizations that were up-to-date in other states might not be current in Nevada. The health district also suggests a second dose of the chickenpox vaccine for school-age children as recommended earlier this year by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The health district will provide childhood immunizations at Back-to-School events: Meadows Mall, Saturday, Aug. 11, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Boulevard Mall, Saturday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Galleria Mall, Saturday, Aug. 25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The administrative fees will be collected at the mall events. -30- Contacts |
