Public Health Update #1 - West Nile Virus

The Southern Nevada Health District’s mosquito surveillance program has detected West Nile virus in additional mosquitoes in Clark County; all positive mosquitoes in Clark County have been detected since August.
Affected mosquitoes were found in Overton (89040) at the Cooper Street Wash and at a farm, in Henderson (89011) at the wastewater site/bird viewing preserve, and in three locations at the Wetlands Park (89122). To date, there have been three confirmed cases of West Nile virus in Clark County residents; it is believed that none of the individuals contracted the disease in Clark County.
