SNHD’s new Henderson Public Health Center opens Tuesday, Sept. 5

LAS VEGAS – September 1, 2006 – The Southern Nevada Health District’s (SNHD) new Henderson Public Health Center will open at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5 at its new location, 520 E. Lake Mead Parkway at Burkholder Blvd. The 26,000-square-foot campus is the largest of the district’s satellite facilities. The new center will provide well baby check ups, family planning, women’s health care services, immunizations and flu shots, day care physicals and sports physicals, and health promotion and environmental health programs. The new Henderson center will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and can be reached by calling (702) 759-1040. For additional information, visit www.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org.

“The City of Henderson is one of Nevada’s fastest growing municipalities and the state’s second largest city. We have relocated our public health center to keep up with the growth of the community and this location offers greater accessibility to public health services to Henderson’s residents and families,” said Dr. Donald S. Kwalick, chief health officer of the Southern Nevada Health District. The new facility will allow the health district to eventually offer expanded services.

The expanded facility will allow the Southern Nevada Health District to serve more clients on a daily basis. A nine-member nursing department will manage the clinics including back-to-school and flu immunization clinics to serve more residents. Additionally, the 11-person environmental health department will be better able to provide inspections and monitor compliance of the area’s schools, restaurants and other public accommodations.

The Southern Nevada Health District has operated a public health center in Henderson for the past 25 years.
