New & Noteworthy

New flu vaccine offered

Flu season is here, and we have the new quadrivalent vaccine to help protect you and your family from flu this year. The quadrivalent vaccine protects against four strains of influenza, instead of the typical three.

To find a flu clinic near you, visit the Flu Shot webpage.

Use Condom Sense website unveiled

Teens now have a website to visit to get accurate, teen-friendly information about condoms, birth control and sex. The newly developed Use Condom Sense website, created by the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, also offers a teen hotline and a mechanism to ask questions of a “sexpert” (health educator).

Check it out at www.CondomSenseNV.com.

Computer lab now open at Valley View location

The health district now has computers available at its Valley View location for people who need to take the food handler safety training. The lab is open five days a week (times vary), and appointments are recommended. Clients need to bring headphones, and pay for the training with a credit or debit card.

For more information about the training or computer lab availability, visit the Food Safety Training webpage.

Smoke-free housing directory available

Looking for a new apartment without the stench of smoke or risk of secondhand smoke from neighboring smokers? Check out the new smoke-free housing directory compiled by the health district’s Tobacco Control Program. Listings are organized by property type, and include low-income housing as well as senior living dwellings.

Visit the www.GetHealthyClarkCounty.org website to view the directory.
