The health district is holds clinics in the Spring at middle schools to vaccinate children entering 7th grade with the mandated Tdap (tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis) vaccine.
Recommended vaccines will also be available for:
- Meningococcal Meningitis: recommended for all children 11-12 years of age
- Chickenpox (Varicella): recommended to have 2 doses
- Hepatitis A: Most children have had 2 doses which is the school requirement. If you are unsure, check with the health district or your school to see if your child has this requirement.
Contact your health care provider or review your child's vaccine records to find out if your child meets the Tdap mandate.
What Students Must Bring to Clinics
Students must bring the following items to school on the day of the clinic:

Costs
Payment by cash or check is accepted. Checks should be made payable to SNHD. Credit and debit cards are not accepted at school clinics.
The cost to vaccinate your child will depend on your insurance.
Uninsured: An administration fee of $16 for one vaccine or $25 for two or more vaccines.
VFC Eligible:* An administration fee of $16 for one vaccine or $25 for two or more vaccines.
Medicaid insurance: No out-of-pocket expense as long as insurance card is presented at time of vaccination.
Nevada Checkup insurance: No out-of-pocket expense as long as insurance card is presented at time of vaccination.
Culinary insurance: Each vaccine is $6. The primary card holder's culinary insurance number must be provided.
Private insurance that does not cover vaccines: An administration fee of $16 for one vaccine or $25 for two or more vaccines.
Private insurance that covers vaccines: A receipt will be given to your child so you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.
- $60 for the Tdap vaccine
- $50 for the Hepatitis A vaccine
- $130 for the Meningococcal Conjugate vaccine
- $105 for the Varicella vaccine
- Administration fee of $16 for one vaccine or $25 for two or more vaccines
*Children eligible for the VFC Program (Vaccines for Children) include American Indians, Alaska Natives, children with no insurance and children with insurance that does not cover vaccines.

Clinic Schedule
Clinics are scheduled between February - May and August and are not open to the public. Only children attending the middle school where the clinic is scheduled and their siblings are eligible to participate. Visit the Back-to-School Clinics webpage for a list of clinics open to the public.
State Regulations
In 2007 the Nevada State Board of Health revised state regulations to mandate that children enrolling in grade seven must be immunized against Bordetella pertussis.
