HIV Community Prevention Training Calendar
The HIV Community Prevention Group objectives:
- Assist participants to develop and improve skills by providing a unique opportunity to observe, participate and learn from others.
- Assist individuals through specifically designed workshops to transfer skills and knowledge to their community based organizations.
- Encourage participants to network and collaborate with other providers.
- Provide participants with follow-up support through networks, trainers, and other resources to ensure continuity and long term benefits.
It is highly recommended you reserve a seat, as classes fill quickly and course material is prepared based on number of participants. Most courses are free and limited to a maximum of 25 participants. (Course fee is subject to change.)

All courses are held at the Southern Nevada Health District's Office of AIDS, located at 400 Shadow Lane, Suite 208, Las Vegas, Nevada 89106.
HIV/AIDS Fundamentals

$50 fee for Las Vegas Justice Court referrals for court related documentation of attendance and participation. Lunch will not be provided.
This course provides an overview of essential facts regarding HIV/AIDS, transmission, prevention, casual contact, testing procedures, Nevada laws and regulations, medications, and services available for persons living with HIV/AIDS in Clark County.
ABCs of Hepatitis and STDs
Prerequisite: HIV/AIDS Awareness

This interactive course will discuss Hepatitis A, B, and C and review the most common Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Participants will leave with the knowledge to answer the most common client questions regarding Hepatitis A, B and C, and STDs.
HIV Client Centered Counseling (3 day course)
Prerequisite: HIV/AIDS Awareness

This three day training includes information regarding HIV client centered counseling, testing, and referrals. This course will provide participants with the knowledge needed to conduct HIV Client Centered Counseling and is intended to compliment the participant's existing counseling skills.
All participants must have completed the HIV/AIDS Awareness course prior to this course. Client Centered Counseling is tailored to the individual and their specific needs and has been proven to be an effective method of risk reduction.
Valuing Diversity

This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn to live and work in diverse environments. Our world is becoming smaller and smaller. The growth of technology has contributed to this as well as economic conditions and the mobility of people. This requires that we are able to live and work within an increasingly diverse environment.
In this course, participants will experience and discuss the value of diversity. Knowing how to approach unfamiliar situations can make diversity more comfortable, valuable, and productive.
The topics discussed throughout this course will include: what is diversity?, identifying and analyzing problem situations, valuing diversity, communication skills, conflict resolution, active listening, and coping with change.
HIV Treatment Fraud

HIV Treatment Fraud is an update on the deceptive promotion, advertisement, distribution or sale of articles represented as being effective to diagnose, prevent, cure or treat HIV and AIDS.
