Covering Kids

Covering Kids is a National Health Access Initiative for low-income, uninsured children. It is a $47 million program of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, with direction and assistance provided by the Southern Institute on Children and Families.

Covering Kids can provide information on health insurance programs available for children. To learn more about Covering Kids call 1(888) 660-4728.


Healthy Kids Exams

A Healthy Kids Exam is a preventive health program for infants, children and young adolescents.

Why should my child get a Health Kids Exam?

A nurse will help you by:

  • Checking your child's physical, growth and developmental progress
  • Checking your child's teeth and applying fluoride varnish
  • Giving your child required shots
  • Providing information about your child's health and referrals, as needed

  • North Las Vegas Public Health Center - 1820 Lake Mead, Suite F
  • East Las Vegas Public Health Center - 560 Nellis, Suite E-12

No appointmet is needed.

Exams are funded by Medicaid and Nevada Check-Up. Your children must be Title XIX eligible through the Nevada State Welfare Title XIX Division program.

Child Health Conferences

  • Health screenings are conducted on children aged newborn through 4 years of age, along with continued monitoring of their growth and development.
  • Referrals are made to other agencies/providers if problems are observed.
  • Childhood immunizations are given as needed.
  • These exams are done free of charge at the Public Health Centers and at satellite clinics throughout the valley.
  • Day care and pre-school exams are conducted only at the Public Health Centers for a small fee.
  • All exams are done by appointment.
