Vice Chair Giunchigliani, at the request of Chair Kirk who participated telephonically, called the meeting of the Nomination of Officers Committee to order at 4:10 p.m. She noted that she had been provided with the Affidavits of Posting and Mailing of Agenda meeting notices, as required by Nevada’s Open Meeting Law. The Affidavits are incorporated into these Official Minutes.

II. Discussion - Action

1. Receive and Consider Nominations for Southern Nevada District Board of Health Officers for FY 2008-09; Make Recommendations to the Southern Nevada District Board of Health on July 24, 2008 for the Following Positions: Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary

Chair Kirk nominated Chris Giunchigliani as Chair. No other Board members had expressed interest in serving as an officer. Chair Kirk volunteered to serve as Vice Chair and it was suggested to nominate Councilman Barlow to serve as Secretary. The Secretary has been signing the Accounts Payable registers on a routine basis in place of the Chair.

A motion was made by Chair Kirk to nominate the following individuals to serve as Officers of the Southern Nevada District Board of Health for FY 2009: Chair - Chris Giunchigliani; Vice Chair – Steve Kirk; and Secretary – Ricki Barlow; seconded by Member Hardy and was unanimously approved.

III. Public Comment

Public comment is a period devoted to comments by the general public about matters relevant to the Board's jurisdiction. Items raised under this portion of the Agenda cannot be acted upon by the Board of Health until the notice provisions of Nevada's Open Meeting Law have been complied with. Therefore, no vote may be taken on a matter not listed on the posted agenda and any action on such items will have to be considered at a subsequent meeting.

Vice Chair Giunchigliani invited any individuals wishing to address the Board on matters under their jurisdiction to come forward. Seeing none, Vice Chair Giunchigliani closed this portion of the agenda.

IV. Adjournment

There being no further business to come before the Committee, Vice Chair Giunchigliani adjourned the meeting at 4:14pm.
