Executive Secretary:

Donald S. Kwalick, MD, MPH

Legal Counsel:

Stephen R. Minagil

Other SNHD Board of Health Attendees:

II. Discussion

A. Review Applicant(s) for At-Large Nurse Alternate Position of the Southern Nevada District Board of Health for Remainder of Two Year Term Beginning July 2006

Member Mattocks said in reviewing applicants she considered both the number of years of experience and time spent in Clark County. She also looked at how an applicants experience would benefit the Health District. Bonnie Sorenson said she considered the same criteria as Member Mattocks in reviewing the applications. She felt that the three final candidates chosen for consideration were all good applicants.

Dr. Kwalick said that he also tabulated years of experience and time in Clark County. All three applicants had an average of fifteen years time in Clark County, and nearly twenty years of nursing experience. He also considered their community activities. He noted that the candidates represented both hospitals and private practice, and would represent more diverse populations in our community.

Committee members all agreed it would be beneficial to have one nurse with hospital experience and one nurse with private sector experience on the Board.

III. Public Participation

Items raised under this portion of the Agenda cannot be acted upon by the Board of Health Committee until the notice provisions of Nevada’s Open Meeting Law have been complied with. Therefore, any action on such items will have to be considered at a later meeting.

Chair Fairchild asked if any members of the public wished to be heard. It was noted that no members of the public were in attendance.

Chair Fairchild closed this portion of the agenda.

IV. Discussion - Action

A. Recommendations to elected District Board of Health Members for at-large nurse alternate appointee

Member Reese motioned to recommend to the Board of Health Debra Toney as at-large nurse alternate. Chair Fairchild seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion was approved unanimously.

V. Adjournment

Chair Fairchild thanked both Member Mattocks and Mrs. Sorenson for their involvement in the process of screening applicants and selecting three outstanding candidates for consideration for the at-large nurse alternate position.

There being no further business to come before the Committee Chair Fairchild adjourned the meeting at 9:10 a.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Donna Fairchild, Committee Chair
