Registrations – Qualified Operators and Pool Companies

The Qualified Operator is the individual responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water systems and associated infrastructure of the aquatic facility. Pool maintenance companies and Qualified Operators that service Southern Nevada Health District-permitted aquatic venues must register with the Health District.

Qualified operators are required to have completed a national Qualified Pool Operator certification course. Qualified Pool Operator training courses must meet criteria outlined in the most current Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Training courses can be found by searching the internet or through your employer. The Health District does not provide Qualified Operator training.

Once certification is obtained, Qualified Operators must register with the Health District prior to working at any aquatic facility or with any pool company. Operator registrations expire in conjunction with the national certification expiration and must be renewed prior to expiration.

All pool maintenance companies wishing to be listed on aquatic venue signage must register with the Health District and maintain a list of current employees servicing commercial aquatic venues. The completed registration application with copies of all operators’ Health District registrations can be sent to aquatic@snhd.org.

It is highly recommended that an appointment be scheduled for Qualified Operator and Pool Company Registration application submittals to guarantee same-day processing. Walk-in applicants will be processed as time permits. Contact the office at aquatic@snhd.org or (702) 759-0572 to schedule an appointment.
